standard ticketing is the most basic way to see a broadway show. it's familiar and predictable. the following are some specific, helpful tips on getting the best deal on your tickets.
compare prices. generally the show website itself will have information on specific ticket pricing, which will give you a good ballpark for what tickets are going for and whether you're getting a deal or not.
use todaytix. todaytix often sells discounted tickets where you can purchase way in advance, although sometimes the most affordable seats are the least desirable. depending on the theatre, sometimes that doesn't matter. if i'm seated far away, i wait until intermission and ask ushers if i can move to a better seat that wasn't sold.
for me, standard ticketing is my last resort when I can't rush, lottery, or otherwise secure tickets in a more affordable way. sometimes, it is necessary to spend the money to ensure you have a seat way in advance, especially if you're bringing someone from out of town with less flexibility. besides lotteries and rush, check my resources page for more ideas for tickets.
